Why Is Emmerdale Not on Wednesday?
ITV1 is broadcasting live Carabao Cup football from 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16. The coverage continues until approximately 9:25 p.m., removing both Emmerdale and Coronation Street from their usual evening positions.
The missing episode has not been moved to another night in the current schedule. Viewers will therefore receive four new Emmerdale episodes instead of five this week.
Why Is Emmerdale Starting at 7:00 p.m.?
The soap normally occupies ITV’s weekday evening schedule, but its exact time can move when the broadcaster rearranges news, sport and entertainment programs.
This week, Emmerdale begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by Coronation Street at 7:30 p.m. on each scheduled night.
This is earlier than the standard 8:00 p.m. slot announced as part of ITV’s 2026 “soap power hour,” so viewers relying on the usual time could miss the television broadcast.

Can You Watch Emmerdale on ITVX?
Yes. New episodes can be watched through ITVX as part of ITV’s soap coverage. ITVX is also the best option for anyone who misses the earlier 7:00 p.m. television broadcasts.
