Our editorial purpose

Emmerdale Spoilers is an independent entertainment publication covering Emmerdale storylines, characters, cast members, schedules and related television news. Our purpose is to give readers clear, useful and responsibly presented information. We are not affiliated with ITV, Emmerdale or the programme’s production companies.

Accuracy before speed

Entertainment stories can change quickly, particularly when schedules move or reports concern an actor’s future. We aim to distinguish confirmed information from informed interpretation, rumours and viewer speculation. A headline should reflect what the article can support. We do not present an unconfirmed departure, return, death, casting decision or broadcast time as settled fact.

How articles are prepared

Writers begin with the reader’s question and consult relevant sources. Where possible, we prioritise official broadcaster information, programme announcements, verified accounts, direct interviews and established publications with first-hand reporting. Articles should explain the source of important claims and link to useful supporting material when appropriate.

Before publication, content is checked for names, character relationships, dates, episode information and context. Older background material may be used to explain current developments, but it should not be presented as new information.

Headlines, spoilers and sensitive subjects

Headlines should be descriptive rather than misleading or unnecessarily alarming. Because our site covers a continuing drama, some pages naturally contain spoilers. We try to give readers enough context to understand the subject without fabricating certainty. Coverage involving bereavement, illness, violence or other sensitive themes should use respectful language.

Updates and corrections

When a story develops, we may update the article and its wording. A displayed update date is used when changes are substantial, not simply to make an old article appear new. Material errors are corrected under our Corrections Policy. Readers can report a possible problem through our contact page.

Commercial independence

Editorial decisions are not sold. Advertising, sponsorship or another commercial relationship must not determine the conclusion of editorial coverage. Any paid or affiliate material, if published, should be clearly identified so readers can understand the relationship.

Our standard: readers should be able to understand what is known, what remains unconfirmed and where important information came from.
