Our position
Emmerdale Spoilers may use AI-assisted tools during parts of the publishing workflow. These tools can help organise research, develop an outline, improve formatting, identify unclear wording or support routine production tasks. They are not treated as reliable primary sources and do not remove human responsibility for what is published.
Human review
Articles should be reviewed by a human before publication. The review includes checking names, dates, character relationships, broadcast information, source attribution and whether the article presents speculation as fact. A human editor remains responsible for the final headline, wording and decision to publish.
What AI must not be used to fabricate
- Quotations, interviews or statements that did not occur
- Sources, links or citations that do not exist
- Biographical details without support
- Confirmed exits, deaths, returns or schedule changes without evidence
- First-hand reporting, access or experience that the website did not have
- Images designed to mislead readers into believing a fictional scene is genuine news photography
Verification
Information suggested by an automated tool must be verified against appropriate sources before it is treated as factual. If a claim cannot be confirmed, it should be removed, attributed as a report or described with clear uncertainty.
Disclosure
A general policy provides transparency about routine assistance. Additional article-level disclosure may be used when automation plays a substantial role that readers would reasonably want to understand, particularly for generated imagery, data analysis or unusual content formats.
Corrections
AI involvement does not change our responsibility to correct errors. Readers can report a concern through the contact page, and the matter will be reviewed under our Corrections Policy.
