Why Was Emmerdale Not on Wednesday?
There was no new Emmerdale episode on Wednesday, 16 September. ITV1 changed its evening schedule to show live Carabao Cup football involving Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion.
The football coverage occupied the usual soap timeslots, removing both Emmerdale and Coronation Street from Wednesday’s schedule. ITV did not release a new episode early through ITVX because no television broadcast was planned.
The soap returns to its regular time tonight, although the cancelled Wednesday episode has not created an extended Thursday edition.
