Inde Navarrette is an American actor known for playing Sarah Cushing in Superman & Lois and Estela de la Cruz in 13 Reasons Why. In 2026, her profile grew further with the horror film Obsession and confirmation that she will play Rogue in an upcoming Marvel film.
Those projects show a career moving in different directions at once. Her television work introduced her to a wide audience, Obsession brought recognition for a lead film performance, and Rogue is her biggest announced role yet. Here is what is confirmed about her work and what remains ahead.
How Did Inde Navarrette Become Known?
One of Inde Navarrette’s early television roles was Estela de la Cruz in the final season of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. Estela de la Cruz is the younger sister of Monty de la Cruz, a character whose actions had a lasting effect on the series. The role brought Inde Navarrette into an established story with a large audience.
Her next major television part was Sarah Cushing in Superman & Lois. Rather than centring only on superhero action, the series also followed the families and relationships of Smallville. Sarah Cushing was part of that everyday world. As the daughter of Lana Lang, she had her own friendships, frustrations and difficult choices while growing up in a town where extraordinary events were becoming normal.
The series ran from 2021 to 2024. Across its run, Inde Navarrette had more room to develop Sarah Cushing than a brief guest appearance could offer. Viewers followed the character through changes in her family life and her relationship with Jordan Kent, played by Alexander Garfin.
Are Sarah Cushing and Sarah Cortez the Same Character?
Yes. Viewers may find both Sarah Cushing and Sarah Cortez in discussions of Superman & Lois, but they refer to the same character played by Inde Navarrette. Sarah Cortez is a name used later in the story, not a second role or a replacement actor.
That distinction matters when looking through cast lists or older coverage. Early articles usually identify her as Sarah Cushing, while later references may use Sarah Cortez. Both names point to Inde Navarrette’s work on the series.
What Is Her Role in Obsession?
Inde Navarrette plays Nikki Freeman in Obsession, a horror film directed by Curry Barker. The story begins with a wish: a young man wants the woman he desires to fall in love with him. What follows explores the disturbing consequences of trying to control another person’s feelings.
Michael Johnston stars alongside Inde Navarrette. The premise could easily have reduced Nikki Freeman to someone else’s fantasy, but the role asks more of its actor. As the wish takes hold, the audience must consider what is happening to Nikki Freeman as a person, not just what the man who made the wish wants from her.
Obsession received a public release in May 2026. The film placed Inde Navarrette in a very different setting from Smallville, giving audiences a chance to see her in a story driven by psychological horror rather than television drama.
Her performance also earned a notable award. At the 2026 Seattle International Film Festival, Inde Navarrette won the Golden Space Needle Award for Best Performance for Obsession. It is a significant recognition for a film role that arrived just as more viewers were discovering her earlier work.
Is Inde Navarrette Playing Rogue?
Yes. Disney confirmed Inde Navarrette’s casting as Rogue during its 2026 D23 entertainment presentation. The character is set to appear in an upcoming Marvel film featuring the X Men, currently scheduled for 5 May 2028.
The casting is confirmed, but the film has not been released. That means there is no performance to assess yet, and detailed claims about Rogue’s storyline should be treated cautiously unless Marvel or Disney confirms them.
For Inde Navarrette, the announcement marks a substantial step from her previous television and independent film work into a major franchise. It also brings new attention to the range she has already shown: the grounded family drama of Superman & Lois and the unsettling emotional demands of Obsession are notably different kinds of performances.
What Else Has She Appeared In?
Beyond her best known television and film roles, Inde Navarrette’s credits include Wander Darkly and Denton’s Death Date. Her official Superman & Lois biography also lists the short films Cross Words Together and Cranberry Nights.
These earlier projects are easy to overlook when a Marvel announcement dominates headlines, but they help explain why her career did not begin with Rogue. She had already worked across television, feature films and short films before the casting news arrived.
What Happens Next?
The clearest confirmed next milestone is Marvel’s planned 2028 release. Release schedules can change, so the date is best understood as the current plan rather than a guarantee.
Meanwhile, viewers curious about Inde Navarrette have two distinct places to start. Superman & Lois offers a longer look at her work as Sarah Cushing, while Obsession shows her handling a darker film role as Nikki Freeman. Together, they give a fuller picture of the actor behind the Rogue announcement.
